Hello Wildcat Families,

Here it is, the end of the year already.  I need to apologize for not updating this website through the year, but I tried to put info on that people would need throughout the school year and I thought putting the day of each library class would be the best idea.  I am now going to post the dates, times, and books w/activities for summer library:

 

2009 Summer Library Choices and Activities

 

Wed. July 8:  Pale Male Citizen Hawk of New York City- The Center for Wildlife from Cape Neddick, Me. will do a presentation about birds of prey at 11:00 a.m.  Story will be read at 10:30 on this day.

 

Wed. July 15:  The Boy Who Drew Birds A Story of John James Audubon- We will be making bird binoculars, egg cup birds, and paper bag bird’s nests.  Story will be read at 9:30 with activities to follow.

 

Wed. July 22:  Milton Hershey Young Chocolatier- We will be sampling some different Hershey products along with other brands of chocolate to see which brand we like best.  We will make chocolate mice.  We will also be using the computer lab to watch how chocolate is made.  Story will be read at 9:30 with activities to follow.

 

Wed. July 29:  Chocolatina- We will be making chocolate ice cream tacos.  We will also be using the computer lab to do an interactive activity about chocolate.  Story will be read at 9:30 with activities to follow.

 

Wed. August 5:  Bridges- We will be using some materials to simulate different types of bridges and seeing which bridge is the strongest.  We will also make “stone” arch bridges out of oak tag.  Story will be read at 9:30 with activities to follow.

 

Wed. August 12:  Iggy Peck, Architect- We will be constructing different structures using legos and food (not together in the same structure).  Story will be read at 9:30 with activities to follow.

 

Wed. August 19:  Star Jumper- We will be making and decorating paper plate spaceships that really fly.  We will be using the computer lab to explore the NASA website.  Story will be read at 9:30 with activities to follow.

 

Wed. August 26:  Traction Man Meets Turbo Dog- We will be making Traction Man paper dolls and using the computer lab to play on some interactive recycling web sites.  Story will be read at 9:30 with activities to follow.

 

*****NOTE:  IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO COME TO THE SUMMER LIBRARY PROGRAM, PLEASE USE THE BACK ENTRANCE TO THE SCHOOL OFF OF WOODMAN ST.  IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF WHERE THIS PARKING AREA IS, YOU WOULD TURN AT THE CHIROPRACTORS OFFICE AND FOLLOW THE ROAD STRAIGHT INTO THE BACK PARKING LOT.  THERE WILL BE A SIGN ON THE ENTRANCE THAT YOU WOULD USE.  IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE ABOUT SUMMER LIBRARY, PLEASE CALL MRS.
